Disease of Cervix
1) acute cervicitis
a. may mistake ectropion for inflammation
b. may be caused by Herpes simplex infection
c. genuine chronic endocervicitis with a heavy lymphocytic and plasma cell infiltrate may be caused by Trichomonas, Candida, Gardnerella and the gonococcus
2) microglandular endocervical hyperplasia
a. cervical crypst multiply and become architecturally distorted
3) Cervical Polyp
4) Benign tumors of cervix
a. Leiomyomas
5) HPV infection
a. Condyloma acuminatum
b. Flat condylomas
6) Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia, usually associated with HPV
7) Cervical Glandular Intraepithelial Neoplasia
8) Invasive Carcinoma of the Cervix
a. mostly squamous cell carcinoma
b. rarely adenocarcinoma
